As the ski and snowshoe season approached, we asked ADK staff members who have involvement with the Adirondac to suggest winter outings in various parts of the club’s membership world, from the High Peaks to the Catskills. Following are their recommendations; no doubt you know of others throughout the two parks. Because conditions can vary so much in the winter, as can user’s ability levels, we have refrained from rating these trips for difficulty, but have simply given brief descriptions.

McKenzie Pass
Location: Jackrabbit Ski Trail
Distance: 6 miles one way between Whiteface Inn Lane and McKenzie Pond Road
ADK Guidebook: High Peaks Trails

Black Mountain
Location: Pike Brook Road, north of Whitehall
ADK Guidebook: Eastern Trails
Upcoming Outing: Join ADK’s Young Member Outing on February 18th for a hike to one of the best fire tower summits in the Adirondacks. Check out our calendar for more information regarding this outing!

Fore more detailed descriptions of these outings and others listed in the Winter Sample, pick up your January-February edition of the Adirondac. Members can view the magazine in their Members Area on the website. Non-members can purchase the magazine in our online shop.
