Another Great Fire Tower

Elevation: 3744 ft
Ascent: 1635 ft
Round-Trip Distance: 6.0 miles
Location: Cedar River Road off of Routes 28/30 west of Indian Lake
Central Adirondacks

The Cedar River Rd junction with NY 28/30 is about 2 miles west of the town of Indian Lake at a sharp bend in the road. The trailhead is 0.2 miles short of the Moose River Recreation Area.

The first 2.0 miles of the trail is really a woods road with excellent footing. On the second part of the hike, the trail begins a steady and fairly steep ascent of about 1200 feet in the last mile. There are a few switchbacks on this section. The summit area has a well preserved cabin and even a nice picnic table on a grassy flat. The tower is said to be the highest in the Adirondacks and the views from the tower are expansive.

This trail can be found on the ADK/National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map for the Northville Raquette region (map No. 744).

Have a great hike!
