The absence of funding for Tick-Borne Diseases (TBD) in the proposed New York State Executive Budget is alarming! With an estimated 52,000 new cases of Lyme disease in 2017 in New York State alone, we cannot afford to let our guard down. Last year’s budget provided $1 million in funding for public awareness, treatment, and prevention of Lyme disease and other TBDs. There has been a significant increase in the variety of ticks, the diseases they carry, and the geographic range of people contracting TBDs. Ticks are now carrying more than one disease so the risk has increased for multiple infections from single tick bites. Please use the link below to send a letter to ask your legislators to support the restoration of at least $1 million in the New York State Budget to combat TBDs.
