College Winter Yurt Program
WEEKENDS; February, March, April
College groups can reserve ADK’s heated yurts on weekends from February through April. Come spend a weekend with fellow students in the heart of the Adirondack Park while learning winter preparedness skills with one of ADK’s education staff. Cost: $90-$120 per person (members receive 10% discount); includes two night stay in yurt, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday breakfast, guided trips and use of ADK’s snowshoes and microspikes.
Discovering the Ausable: An Aquatic Stewardship Program
July 21 – 25
This aquatic science program is for teens ages 13-16. Participants will explore the Ausable River watershed, while learning about aquatic ecology and participating in water quality experiments. The groups stays in ADK’s Education Yurt Village at the Heart Lake Program Center while going on field trips everyday in the Ausable River Watershed.
Cost: FREE ($75 App. Fee); includes instruction, transportation during the course, all meals, and use of group equipment (tents, stoves, cook sets, etc.). Application required.
Johns Brook Valley Teen Adventure
July 30 – August 2
This four-day, three-night camping adventure is for teens ages 14 to 17. Explore Johns Brook Valley’s mountains, streams and lean-tos while we build friendship, camaraderie and outdoor skills in the Adirondack backcountry. Participants will experience hiking high peaks and learning the skills to become a proficient backpacker.
Cost: $399 (members receive 10% discount); includes instruction, transportation during the course, all meals, and use of group equipment (tents, stoves, cook sets, etc.).
Teen Advanced Backpacking
June 28 – July 3
This five-night backpacking adventure is for teens ages 15 to 17. Take your backpacking skills to the next level by having an opportunity to plan, execute and help lead a 45-mile backpacking trip along the Northville-Placid Trail in the High Peaks Wilderness. Along the way we will build friendship, camaraderie and outdoor skills to become a proficient backpacker. This program is for participants who already have backpacking experience.
Cost: $599 (members receive 10% discount); includes instruction, transportation during the course, all meals, and use of group equipment (tents, stoves, cook sets, etc.).
