Baker Mountain is a small but interesting mountain near Saranac Lake. The trailhead is off Route 3 north of the village. Turn right (southeast) onto Pine St, then east on the East Pine St. It provides a short 0.9 mile hike up a relatively moderate mountain as far as steepness is concerned, but there are a few spots that do make you work. Be careful on the descent from the summit as markers are scarce. It could be a perfect little mountain to take many photos for one’s collection.
Note: For a more complete description of the trail, please see Adirondack Mountain Club High Peaks Trails.
This trail can also be found on the ADK/National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map for the Saranac/Paul Smiths.
