ADK (Adirondack Mountain Club) has built an education facility at the Heart Lake Program Center. The facility comprises of three Pacific Yurts; one 30 foot diameter classroom yurt and two 20 foot diameter yurts for sleeping quarters. This space will be used to facilitate the more than 85 outdoor skills workshops, Leave No Trace courses and 4th grade school outreach programs that ADK offers every year. Programming in this facility will start in January 2019.
A big thank you goes out to all the volunteers that helped with this project and to the Cloudsplitter Foundation for financially supporting the building of this facility. If you would like more information on programming in this facility contact Education Programs Manager Seth Jones.
Additional funding of approximately $13,000 is needed to finish the yurt interiors and equip the spaces with bunks, mattresses, tables, chairs, storage, and other essentials.
