The ADK Hiking Page

Since 1922, the Adirondack Mountain Club has been the authority on hiking in the Adirondacks. ADK’s Hiking Page is your source for a wealth of information about Adirondack hiking and backpacking, as well as snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the winter.

Snow and Ice: Up to 6 inches of snow cover may be found above 3500 feet.  Ice is present on the summits and other locations, pack and use crampons or stabilizers as needed. Wear proper footwear and outerwear, including hat and gloves or mittens. Pack extra non-cotton clothes - take off and put on layers of clothing to regulate body heat. Blowdown from the recent snow storm is present on most trails. Plan trips accordingly and use caution.
