Family Friendly HikesView from Mt. Jo

Here are some relatively easy hikes in the Adirondacks.

Please read descriptions to ensure that the hikes are

suitable for you and your family.

High Peaks/Lake Placid Area
  • Baker Mountain A small but interesting mountain near Saranac Lake.
  • Goodnow Mountain A 1.9 mile hike to a fire tower.
  • Poko-O-Moonshine A hike in the northern part of the Adirondacks with great views of Vermont and Lake Champlain.  It also has a restored fire tower.
  • Mount Jo ADK's own mountain, on the north shore of Heart Lake (photo). Two trails lead to the top of this 2876 ft. peak. For a description of the trail, please see ADK's (guide to) ADIRONDACK TRAILS - High Peaks Region 13th Edition, pp. 140-141.
  • Owl's Head A 0.6 mile 460 foot climb of a mountain with many fine views.

  • Hadley Mountain A restored fire tower allows great views in all directions.
