LAKE PLACID, NY- The Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) is offering free educational programs at Heart Lake and Adirondak Loj near Lake Placid this summer. These family-friendly programs are run out of the Heart Lake Nature Museum, which is open throughout the summer from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day. Come view displays featuring local ecosystems before partaking in daytime programs such as guided nature hikes, children’s activities, or nature art.
The ADK also offers several programs at night, covering such topics as legends and lore of the Adirondacks and Family Night Hikes. The program schedule is as follows:
Guided Hike up Mt. Jo Wed-Sun at 9 am - meet at the Nature Museum
Heart Lake Nature Walk Wed-Sun 1-2 pm - meet at the Nature Museum
Wednesday Night Campfire Wed 8:30 - 9:30 pm at the Buhlam Memorial Amphitheater. Relive a tradition sparked by Henry Van Hoevenberg in 1877 by joining us Wednesday evenings for stories and fun around the campfire.
ADK Summer Lecture Series Saturday 8-9 pm Each week, ADK offers presentations on natural and cultural history of the Adirondacks, funded, in part, by Stewart’s Shops. Meet at the High Peaks Information Center.
