Snowshoeing/Cross-Country Skiing - 2008

Intro. to Snowshoeing
HLPC, Jan. 13, Feb. 3
Please join ADK at the beautiful Heart Lake Program Center to spend the day snowshoeing on our wonderful trails. We will provide the snowshoes and instruction for these guided hikes around our property, as well as sharing bits of natural history including animal tracking and winter ecology. Hikes may include climbing Mt. Jo or snowshoeing to a lean-to to enjoy hot chocolate and enjoy the incredible scenery of the High Peaks. Great for the whole family! Time: 10 am – 3 pm. Cost: $30/$35 adults; $10/$12 kids 6-15 y/o; FREE kids under 6. Includes instruction and snowshoes.

Intro. to Backcountry Skiing
HLPC, Jan. 27, Feb. 10
Are you a cross-country skier who wishes to move out of groomed cross-country ski areas, develop your technique, and expand your experience into the backcountry on varied terrain? Then this is the course for you! This introductory backcountry ski workshop will help you gain an understanding of the equipment and technique needed to ski on un-groomed surfaces. Program is for ages 16 and older. Cost: $50/$57; includes instruction. With equipment rental: $80/$87.

Adirondak Loj Winter Basecamp
HLPC, Feb. 14–16
Based out of ADK’s Adirondak Loj, this 3-day program will offer great winter day hikes in the mountains surrounding the Heart Lake Program Center with the luxury of returning to the Adirondak Loj each evening for a hot meal or a trip into town. Cost: $218/$239; includes lodging, group meals, and equipment.
