High Peaks Day Hikes
Whether you are working on your 46, uncomfortable approaching the High Peaks on your own, or just looking for a great hike in the mountains, these one-day guided trips are for you. We'll discuss safe low-impact travel, route selection, off trail navigation, and the rich natural history of the Adirondacks. All hikes are strenuous and will require a full day of hiking.
Cost: $75 (Members receive 10% discount), includes guide and instruction.

Backpacking Trips

Trailless Peak Backpacking
These trips are designed for those who have experience hiking and backpacking and who are looking for guided backcountry experience in pursuit of climbing the summits of the High Peaks. The group will hike into a base camp from which they’ll be guided up the "trailless” peaks. These courses will be a cooperative group camping experience led by a NYS licensed guide with the shared responsibility of camp chores, cooking, and decision-making.
Cost: $199 (Members receive 10% discount); includes instruction, meals, and use of group gear.

Teen and Young Adult Programs

Advanced Teen Backpacking
July 4-9
Teens (ages 15-17) with backpacking experience: Take your backpacking to the next level by helping to plan, execute and lead a 45-mile backpacking trip along the Northville-Placid Trail.
Location: Heart Lake Program Center/Field
Cost: $500 (members receive 10% discount); includes transportation during the course, meals, and use of group equipment.

Discovering the Ausable: An Aquatic Stewardship Program
July 16-20
Discovering the Ausable: An Aquatic Stewardship Program is a five-day, four-night adventure in camping and aquatic stewardship for teens age 14-17. Participants will explore the Ausable River watershed, while learning about aquatic ecology and participating in water quality experiments. Have fun with peers while developing your paddling skills and learning the intricacies of physical, chemical and biological sampling techniques. Participants will camp in a lean-to at Heart Lake’s Wilderness Campground while taking day trips to places along the Ausable River. This program is a partnership of ADK and the Ausable River Association (AsRA).
Cost: $75 refundable course fee is required at the time of acceptance to the program. The fee will be refunded after the successful completion of an action plan.

Application: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. You can apply by sending an application to ADK's Education Programs Coordinator Seth Jones at programs@adk.org or by mail at PO Box 867, Lake Placid, NY 12946. Applications will be reviewed as they come in.

Johns Brook Valley Teen Adventure
July 23-26
This four-day, three-night camping adventure is for teens ages 14 to 17. Explore Johns Brook Valley’s mountains, streams and lean-tos while we build friendship, camaraderie and outdoor skills in the Adirondack backcountry. Participants will experience hiking high peaks and learning the skills to become a proficient backpacker.
Cost: $300 (Members receive 10% discount); includes instruction, transportation during the course, all meals, and use of group equipment (tents, stoves, cook sets, etc.).
