Charlie Hale Makes a Donation to Help Preserve the Adirondack Wilderness
NOTE: This is a copy of a letter which ADK received on January 9, 2006

Dear Adirondack Mountain Club,
My name Is Charlie Hale. I am 10 years old. Over last summer I decided to organize a “hike-a-thon", where I would hike peaks [mainly in the Adirondacks, but some in the Whites] to raise money for wildlife conservation. The main point was to send money to the Rainforest Action Network, but I also collected for the Adirondack, Green, and Appalachian mountain clubs. My original goal was to raise $300. That may seem like a hard goal, but I raised $1,735.03! Here are my hikes over the summer:
W= White Mountains A= Adirondacks
1. Whiteface [4867] and Esther [4240] A
2. Gothics [4136], Armstrong [4400], Upper Wolf Jaw [4185], and Lower Wolf Jaw [4115] A
3. Big Slide [4240] A
4. Tabletop [4427] and Phelps [4161] A
5. Washington. [6288], Monroe [5384], Eisenhower [4780], Pierce [4310] W
6. Gray [4840], Skylight [4926] A
7. Marshall [4360] A
8. Nippletop [4620] A
Obviously, my pledgers were very helpful, all 34 them. I thank them fondly as this couldn't have happened without them. I hope their donations to your organization helps out the wild.
Thanks for helping!
Sincerely.
Charlie Hale
ADK is very impressed with this young man's initiative and generous spirit. We were very pleased to receive his check for $97.86 which will be used to help protect the wilderness areas of the New York and the wildlife that lives therein.
