New Third Edition: Catskill Trails

Available early August 2005

Lake George—The Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) has released the third edition of Catskill Trails . This 280-page soft cover book describes all of the major public-access trails in the area contained within the boundaries of New York's Catskill Forest Preserve. Trails range from short day trips to trails that combine to form extensive, challenging hiking opportunities. Each trail description includes trail distances, descriptions of terrain features, and suitability for winter ski and snowshoe use; each section contains one or more Route Guides, with accompanying page maps, for locating the trails within that section. The book also includes the latest on hiking and camping regulations, Leave No Trace principles, and backcountry safety.

Information was gathered and updated by editors Carol and David White, of Clinton, New York, along with series editor Neal S. Burdick. The Whites are also the authors of Catskill Day Hikes for all Seasons . Carol serves on the Clinton Board of Trustees as water commissioner, while Dave is President of Clinton Computer Systems. Burdick, of Canton, New York, is editor of ADK's Adirondac magazine, as well as associate director of university communications and university editor in St. Lawrence University's Communications Department.

Catskill Trails is one of eight trail guides in ADK's authoritative Forest Preserve Series. Also available are other hiking, canoeing, rock-climbing, and cross-country skiing guides; natural history guides; and cultural and literary histories of the Adirondack and Catskill parks.
